Future Consequences for Burundi and Rwanda
The Burundi Genocide left a permanent mark in the Hutu population in Burundi because many Hutus were killed during the genocide and many others fled to neighboring countries including Rwanda. This increased tensions in Rwanda and Burundi between the Hutu and Tutsi and have caused future civil wars. These civil wars later led the assassination of one of Rwanda's and Burundi's presidents in 1994, which led to more mass killings and genocides.

Future Genocide
The Burundi Genocide in 1972 later lead to one of the worst known genocides, the Rwanda Genocide. The Rwanda Genocide in 1994, had more double the deaths of the Burundi Genocide. The Rwanda Genocide, similar to the Burundi Genocide, was caused by the violent relationship between the Hutu and Tutsi. One of the leading factors of the Rwanda Genocide was the Rwanda and Burundi civil wars caused by the displacement of Hutus during the Burundi Genocide in 1972. In the Rwanda Genocide, the Hutu rebels and Hutu army killed almost one million Tutsi and almost completed their goal by wiping out almost all the Tutsi. The Rwanda Genocide finally ended when Tutsi rebels breached the Hutu army border. This genocide is still affecting Tutsi and Hutu lives to this day.
